Pic reminds me of the ants that were coming in the window of my study last night... A tiny, unfilled screw hole from an old window covering. I filled it with caulk and the exterminator blasted the heck out of the window when he came for his regular visit today.

Thanks Robert - In the photo that's a beehive that developed between the wood and glass!

Have to be careful with those abandoned houses. Nature hates a vacuum. They soon start to fill with insects, critters and homeless Uzbekis.

First and only homeowner helped by $300 billion federal bailout for little guysLast summer, Congress passed the Hope for Homeowners Act, setting aside $300 billion to help people refinance into more affordable mortgages. But the program has been a total flop.

When it was first introduced, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the program could help 400,000 people keep their homes.

But more than six months after the program was launched, the Federal Housing Administration says only one homeowner has made it all the way through the government program and received the FHA guarantee.

Once a new "staple gun & hot glue" house has been abandoned, then stripped of plumbing/electrical/fixtures,

Then used as a squat by whomever, the best remedy is often the Detroit method.

Neighbors call police to roust the squatters, then quietly go back at night with gasoline & road flares.

So MWD is calling for 10% cutbacks in water usage. Oh, and they say they are going to raise rates. What justification do they have to raise rates?

They're the goverment, you silly wabbit. Everyone knows that that's what government's for: taking your money, and getting in your way.

Just announced, CA unemployment rate = 11.2%.

Lovely.

@W

Dollars to donuts that their justification is to cover the cost of pay raises

This one goes out to Lou.

11.2% is just another step on the ladder skyward. Up, up and away!!!

I've been holding my breath waiting for poor Lou to lose it on that one.

Wait until he hugs Castro.
