Saw this Coming

I've got mixed reactions to this one. Daily Mail.
Recording a verdict of suicide, Deputy Central Hampshire Simon Burge said Mr Phyall had killed himself in a bid to 'make a statement'.

He said: 'The scene was clearly an appalling one.

'In the 15 years I have been sitting as deputy coroner it is the most bizarre case I have seen.

'Mr Phyall had thought through how he was going to commit suicide very carefully - he went to a great deal of trouble to rig up the chainsaw knowing full well the result would be fatal.

'It was death in the most dramatic way imaginable.

'I find he did so to draw attention to the injustice he felt at being asked to move out of his flat.'

And to think I was reluctant to send strongly worded letters to bad tenants. Regardless, the question remains as to just how clever a tenant who didn't want to leave was. Too clever... wait for it... by half? [groan]

Yeah, that'll show the landlord!!

Idiot.

I always love the people who do something outlandish to make a point - and end up hurting nobody but themselves. Great point - he could have had another home, but chose to kill himself instead.

Darwin Award winner. He did it in a building that is going to be knocked down. They don't even need to scrub him off the walls.

I love the headlines "stocks up on word of Geithner as Sec Tres".

Yeah, like they weren't going to go up today ANYHOW.

I love when they attribute the rise or decline of the stocks to something someone said - when it's not all that critical. I mean, what's going to change TODAY because he might be SecTres in a couple months?

Tomorrow, it'll drop below 8k again and that will be blamed on something someone said. I'm psychic... or psychotic - I get those two mixed up sometimes.

What? Are you bucking for a cabinet position or something?

An unfortunate waste. If you're going to take yourself out anyway why not take a few carefully chosen others with you like, say, the landlord?

Rob - Nope, don't want to be in the cabinet. The job I want is either "Lord High Executioner" or "Lifeguard of the Gene Pool". Apparently neither one is offered currently. :(

I've also though it would be fun to be "Jr. Assistant Flunky to the Guy Who Cleans the Men's Room.". Now, I don't want to be the flunky or even the assistant flunky, I want to be the Jr. Assistant.

It could be a serious, high level corporate position, but I'd want that as the title. Might get less annoying sales calls with that title.

Pleather,
My thoughts exactly. This looks more like a warning than a suicide.

Can you believe the freaking idjits on CNBC thinking the Obama appointment was the cause? It was opex imbalances and fund arbitrage.

Gee, PF, you really think it will go down tomorrow? I predict the Dow will be the same value tomorrow it is today. I'm not psychic either, I just think before I type.

Tell the truth Rob, you are really having a cigarette and then taking a nap after reading the entire 8 page Fry's Ad.

Reinforcing the idea of no change - Geithner is not change in any way, shape, or form.

The netroots must be going nuts with every appointment that isn't a moonbat.

Shame that Rep. Waxman unseated Rep. Dingell as chairman of the energy and commerce committe. this puts an enviro-extremist in charge of a powerful committe that shapes how we all do business.

This reminds me of a local story this week. A former mortgage broker and banker files for bankruptcy before a murder/suicide.

http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/local/314867

On Tuesday, an anonymous 911 caller directed Madison police to a sport-utility vehicle parked in front of Haen Family Park on the city's Far West Side. Inside, police say they found Dutter and his son with gunshot wounds.

Kyle, who had a developmental disability, died that day. His father died Wednesday. Authorities say Dutter, 36, recently of Middleton, shot his son, then himself.

At various times he had worked for a mortgage firm and as a branch manager for a bank in Milwaukee.
...
Harsh realities bring bad outcomes.

A divided government is good. "Nostrils" is yet another reason why Akubi should brace himself for another 1994.

The only other time I've felt that way was over dim sum with a coworker's extraordinarly brilliant daughter who assisted me with my f-ed up dumpling wrap.
