What Surveillance?

A laptop computer containing floor plans for Trump Tower, details on the criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server and other national security information was stolen from a Secret Service agent's vehicle in New York City on Thursday, law enforcement sources tell ABC News.

Authorities are still searching for the laptop. Police expect to quickly identify the suspect from video evidence, the sources said.
The computer is encrypted and authorities are able to wipe the hard drive remotely if needed.

If needed?!  IF NEEDED?!  Wipe that evidence quick!

See my comment end of last thread. So they leave laptops in cars too. I assume the data has been sucked oUT by now.

Not just NASA employees.

A year or so ago one left the laptop in the car.

One of the hazards for golfers in Florida.
Cody Gribble tapped the gator on the tail and it jumped into the water. That looked like a 5 or 6 ft gator. Don't know if you would try that with a 10 or 12 ft one.

Man, if one of my errant golf balls had ended up anywhere near those Canadian Geese I'd take a drop rather than risk pissing them off.

Rob Dawg said...

Interesting loophole in the FISA requirement. If you ever held a security clearance you can be tapped with no warrant.

Lawyerliz said...

Hmmmm.

How do you think I know your hubby has actuators? Just kidding.

Luck of the Irish toady. Finished the rental project and got a possible renter. :)

Took my son to a pond on ft sevens about 25 years ago to feed the local geese. It was fun until we ran out of crackers to feed them. Had to hightail it out of there when they started getting testy about the lack of treats

Cinco-X said...

That's everyone that was ever in the military. Iirc, even cooks get confidential clearances.

Cinco-X said...

Who you calling toady?

LBD said...

Oops. Today, My humble apologizes.

I didn't know that.
So you give up some of your rights when you get a security clearance.

Cinco-X said...

Just kidding

Cinco-X said...

If you get a top secret clearance they take your finger prints and create an FBI dossier...

Rob Dawg said...

So you give up some of your rights when you get a security clearance

If you are like me and I suspect most affected it wasn't there when you got the clearance.

Lawyerliz said...

Can they add it afterwards?

Seems like I recall signing paperwork acknowledging that they could conduct surveillance when I got my secret clearance, but it's been 33 years since then.

Also they take fingerprints for secret clearances too. I had to go to the local sheriff's office to get it done before I could start. So they took me back to where they book all the criminals. Once the guy was finished he was like "So where do we take him now?"

Rob Dawg said...

ISTM that the only people who could get a clean bill for clearance these days are infiltrators who have had their dossiers scrubbed. "Have you ever taken narcotics such as marijuana?" Made me laugh.

Jesus Christ the mudville has jumped the shark. Simply not worth reading

The only answer to that is of course.

Rob Dawg said...

Damn it's early. Just needed a glass of water and peeked. Mud filled was really nasty and you did nothing to deserve it. And don't think they didn't realize. Just look at all those back slapping up votes. They've successfully decontented another blog.

Outsider says she's going to whip up another google account just for EN. I hope so.

Yeah. CRE is getting confusing. Too much of it IMO but selling hot at cap rates that are scary low. And over retailed like no tomorrow. How many acres of Staples are closing? There are just so many Trader Joe's to take their place.

LBD said...

Good Morning!

There have been a lot of CRE sitting empty here as they all move near I80. They just announced JC Penny closing in the mall as well as Varsity chain store closing BK.
Mall is looking like a starter business center. A lot of the "build it and they come" has emptied and sits year after year.
Maybe CRE will drop to the point it might have vulture value. I will start circling.

My wife's family has been involved in retail sales for as long as she can remember, and my wife was involved in that field for years before starting her current job. She still thinks about going back into it occasionally, but I have to remind her that retail had been cutthroat for decades, and the internet has made it even worse over the last 20 years. I think someone would have to be crazy to get into it now...

Lawyerliz said...

Morning.

Lawyerliz said...

Would you tell them I have news on longest lady?

LBD said...

If you can buy on the cheap then you can rent cheap. That is the only way to go at this point. CRE seems very risky to me as I see some of it sit empty for years. With brick and mortar is downsizing the death of CRE will be slow as locally the Kleptocrats keep funding their friends for more unneeded CRE as the way to go. Government growing small town with small thinking.

Yay.

Instead of making the stores more desireable, they cUT the Sales help. Suits, not great marketers. Might be hopeless anyway.

Rob Dawg said...

Suits think any employee not a suit is a cost center.

Rob Dawg said...

CRE doesn't have kids that need expensive schools and demand parks and stuff.

Rob Dawg said...

55F morning fog 70F later no rain likely in the 10 day forecast.

Most of the stores I see in the mall..I just wonder..how can they even stay in business?? Seems like someone's hobby more than a real business..

The Hawaiian judge who pumped out the 43 page stay of Trump's travel restrictions only two hours after hearing arguments? Graduated with Obama from Harvard Law.

Hand... cookie jar.

Money laundering some of them. How else can even a busy cookie shop stay in business.

More like decision made ahead of time. Which is worse? I do agree with decision.

Rob Dawg said...

I dislike Trump's order but I dislike more that after 8 years of executive orders being generally unopposed and most of that mere dissent not obstruction, that now on a subject of regulating the border judges become activists. Not liking Trump's decision it thin sauce to intrude on executive territory.
