How do you get an "A" in housing and an "F" in cost of living?

Unknown said...

it's outrageously priced..but stable??

sometimes when I look at Kali real estate prices I am convinced they must be denominating houses in something other than USD's. Like they switched to a dollar/peso hybrid currency or something and never bothered to tell the rest of us.

My kid in Santa Cruz rents 310sf for twice our acre/2600sf house mortgage. The weird runs wide and deep.

My motor home is 340sf + 2 slides.

My autonomous RV will be a bit different. Detach the autonomous mini SUV and the back end of the RV slides back and clam shell style folds out using the tow trailer assembly as a base. The only part i haven't got down is no surprise; plumbing.

My father said his biggest financial regret was not buying a house near the UW-Madison campus back in the day. Five of his kids went thru that school (over about a 15 year time span)..he would saved tens (if not hundreds) of thousands..

That's a big motor home LBD!!

Plumbing is kind of important. The RV biz seems to evolve more all the time. Wife keeps wanting to down size till I point out what we lose then ours is just the right fine.

how many weeks per year do you get out in it?? favorite destinations??

There is bigger and my ego would love one till I look at the price and the cost if I can't do the maintenance and repairs. They are kind like Mc Mansions on wheels, unlike real estate they only go down in value. LOL!

I would be on the road more but health issues and family set the schedule. 7-8 weeks a year. Favorite so far is Laughlin NV and Lake Havasu AZ. I want to do Hwy 101 in Oregon or the Gulf coast next fall.

If anyone is interested, here is a youtube link to the current conditions at the Oroville dam:

This guy has been posting videos nearly every day for the last couple of months. They are pretty informative, especially compared to the usual tripe from the media.

It looks like the release of water through the power plant turbines won't be enough to keep the water level in the lake where they want it to be. So they will need to use the spillway over the next few months. Exactly how they will do that before it's completely repaired should be interesting.

About a year ago we reached "peak stuff." We were a perfect storm of kids growing up moving out and inheriting and acquiring income houses some of which had furniture. Literally to the rafters. Since then we've been tossing out perfectly good things because the cost of possessing them exceeded their marginal utility. Don't get me wrong, anything remotely having child or donation value got that way but the 4/5ths else just has to go. We have an unusual long view perspective. A dozen empty 2l soda bottles 200 years ago would have been wealth or rejected as witchcraft.

We have a parking space and 220v 50 amp service at a spot to die for.
Serious.

14,000 cf/s won't be near enough. The level of corruption and poor quality these days says the repairs will be late and inadequate.

sounds fun!!

>poor quality these days

In the video, it looks like he is questioning whether there was enough rebar used in the spillway construction. (Originally built in the 1960's).

I watch the video the other day of the Orville spillway and the guy does a good job pointing out whats going on. Looks like they won't be able to control the level and the spillway gets another work out.

Thanks RD but SoCal isn't on the radar at the moment. Never been to the east coast so that's probably the next direction.

was hoping 23 loss UW-Milwaukee was going to get into the NCAA mens b-ball tourney with a win tonight (conference tourney winners get automatic invites regardless of regular season records). Would have been the school with the most losses to ever qualify for the tourney..but alas.. it was not to be.

Great place to grow up and then visit. When you are ready ask me for a checklist. Be sure to visit the great cheese wheel monument. A pivotal point in American history.

Something something Badgers etc. in honor of dryfly coming back soon.

ha ha ha....his son went to school at UW-Stout iirc...

While we were still living in SoCal we did a 2-week tour up the interior to Vancouver, BC and back down the coast. I'd forgotten how beautiful the Oregon coast was (and now I live an hour or so away).

p.s.: IMHO US1 on the NorCal coast is to be avoided entirely, especially in an RV. If you're ever going coastal NorCal stick to 101 through the redwoods and then hug the coast from Big Sur on south.

g'night everyone....could be a Wild Wacky Wednesday in the markets tomorrow (Wednesdays the week before options expire can be very volatile)...so hold on tight!!

Rob Dawg said...

Thinking about Kohl's. KSS. I am seeing a volatility pattern that can be exploited.

Wow.

How much of this is due to Chinese purchases? As they massive enought to drive prices up that significantly?
My son closes On April 3. His move has been approved by the VA and all appears to be well.
