How he gets $ for each ad varies -- the ones he sells directly are flat-fee based, but the Yahoo ads are probably PPC. Dunno about the others, but PPC is generally the standard.

I am a little in shock. I was just flipping through the telly after a long day at the office and settled on MTV Europe.
It was a show following a girl's Sweet 16 Party. In Atlanta. Good Lord. Limo. Major streets closed off. MARCHING band. Dancers. Designer frock. Mega party at a nightclub for the school chums. Several major rap bands. Several wardrobe changes.
Throughout she was whining about wanting a new Mercedes. One of the hired bandmembers looked at her aghast and announced to the camera, "She is 16, has a marching band and wants more for her birthday!"

Rob, I've said it before (here I think), the site has some value, and in the right hands some real potential. I'd put in an offer myself, but it would mean having to deal with fliptard (see mails from Duane), which would be more hassle than creating a new site from scratch.
So let me get this straight, Casey contacts Duane about wanting to sell his site. Then he lets Duane do all the legwork of setting up a deal, only to then quit returning Duane's emails and calls. Then he changes his mind about selling because he gets two $100/mo text link ads. He blows Duane off, then a few days later IAFF's decline is pretty much sealed when C|Net reveals that his sole intent is to troll his readers to support ad revenue. Meanwhile his site craps out because he dicked over Heekee, he misses his traffic bonanza, pisses off the two text-linkers, and screws his Mom over on Mother's Day. Good things just keep on coming.

I believe firmly that was Duane and not a troll. Too many things ring true with the post content, posting style and email header info.
I had originally emailed Duane back when CLUSA was in existence. I found him to be down to earth and really nice. He's really a good guy and I believe that really is him posting those email exchanges.
I suspect Casey is afraid of the hole he has already dug. If he was to get $100,000 for IAFF. It would immediately go to pay off debts and he would still be in a hole to big for him to dig out of. At this point he is using incompetance as a security blanket. As long as he has nothing of value they won't come to get him.

Actually, I don't think the domain is worth much without the train wreck. It's Casey and his cautionary tale that attracts the media, which attracts fresh eyeballs. To turn it into a foreclosure resource, well, I suppose you could scrape some ad revenue from it every month, but without regular media attention and fresh incoming links, it wouldn't be worth very much. 10K hits per month drop to nothing when there's nothing to see (ask Jennifer Ringley).
While we're off the subject, a couple of people posted about a $22K note being due next week. Can you please refresh my memory about what he borrowed that money for, and from whom? Thx!

Why include it? As an object it is not beautiful nor unique. As a photograph, it is at first very interesting, but if I may offer this analysis:
You see, the nose of the vehicle is in shadow, while the rear is in light. This could be a metaphor to mean that Casey is heading towards darker times. Second, the rear is almost out of focus, while the front shows every last nick and defect. That might be symbolic of Casey's history rewriting- describing a time in the past with so much promise, yet vague in details, while in the present and future, his situation is more clearly poor and challenging.
View the portrait of him, perhaps the first proper one we've seen. I think back to that photo of the darker multicolored shirt with him smiling broadly and his head tilted, and compare it to this one. Is this the same person? Importantly, one is a photo chosen by him to be featured, a second one is not chosen by him. And in this more recent one, there is sadness. His hair should be trimmed, his shirt is not quite pressed, his face has a weariness that is genuine. Let's remember, this is a person who, having admitted to a) lying about occupancy, b) failing to disclose cash back, c) arranging closings to conceal from different lenders, protested that he shouldn't have to be incarcerated for his 'financial stress' had already been a great enough punishment!

Well it all started back a few months ago when his server was down for like two days because he was overloading his free host so I offered to migrat the blog and host his account.
To be honest I felt bad for the guy, his blog was really the only successfull thing he had going for him and I thought that I could host his site on a shared server with minimum cost.
Unfortunately the blog is so big it consumes a lot of CPU cycles so I moved him to a semi-dedicated server where he would be guaranteed 20% of the CPU. Unfortunately with the large comment pages the blog started eating up the majority of the server and the people who own the server have an automated program that disables accounts that use too much of the CPU (its only fair to the other people on the box who are also guaranteed 20%).
I didnt want to back out on my commitment to host him so I ordered a dedicated box, unfortunately the data center I lease them from take like 7 business days to commission one and I am still waiting for a couple issues to be worked out.
Currently his site is using 67% of this "shared" box and will probably be shut down within 24 hours.
Unfortunately I am in Europe on real business at the moment so I only have limited access to the internet to help him migrate.
I don't know what Casey is doing, but his stats are way up. Few comments (16 posted and 28 in queue) and the site's been down half of the day. Not sure what's going on. IAFF stats

I am not really involved with the Nigel and Casey beyond helping with the IAFF site.
I have talked to Nigel a few times since he was going to be helping Casey with IAFF. He seems like a nice guy from talking to him, I never followed, or got involved with any of the blog drama however.

I think a part is missing from your history. Can you tell us in your own words about the events surrounding the removal or his wifes pictures on zweg and the addition of a zweg search area on IAFF? Did you insist on this search area to comply with his request? Etc.
