We have been following this story for months, thinking it would end with the last foreclosure. Instead, Casey juices up the plot with new characters, a book, a trip overseas, wifey drama, a scolding from the brother, taking down the blog and so on.
Now, one of the biggest plot points, the return "home" from Australia, comes and goes like nothing happened. And people are pissed. Talk about anti-climatic. We wanted details about the return trip; we wanted dirt on how the family turned their backs on Casey; we wanted our friggin train wreck.
Meanwhile, LMP's got some legal action going and there's all this back channel chatter and promises of secret information about to be revealed. So, we the spectators are hyped-up and ready for someone to drop the bomb. And through all this hype and speculation about what's going on with Casey, we find out that he's just chilling out watching fireworks on the 4th and acting calm-as-can-be. So, our last glimmer of drama, the court case, turns into a dud and now everyone's pissed.
Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about what Casey did or didn't do. I just find the comments hilarious and make for fun reading over my morning cup of coffee and a bagel. Casey is a fantastic target. He provides never-ending ammo for us to fire relentlessly. And when we get bored, he invents a new reason for us to flame him again and again.
What troubles me is the recent mood change on here. The call to get on the Casey war path. Casey has admittedly used fraudulent loan applications to secure his properties, overstating income, debt, etc. One would think these documents were moved about the country using electronic or postal means. The use of electronic and postal means to commit fraud comes under several statutes and can be prosecuted and jail time given.
While Casey seems to try to make these crimes appear to be benign, I think the term he uses is "mistakes", has anyone pointed out to Snowflake that he faces some real potential exposure for criminal prosecution under wire fraud criminal charges?

For us, looser W-2 bread winners, $25000 is a lot of money, enough to go to court. Not so for banks like Wells Fargo, at least not to go to court. In fact, these banks don't even have a recovery department like CashCall. Eventually they sell the debt to some collection company for a fraction of the amount, and write-off the loss.

I read somewhere that unless it is a federal loan like fha or va or one the bank didn't sell the feds won't care because it won't affect the stability of the bank and no federal funds are at risk. I think most of the subprime loans were mostly sold so the motivation by the feds is probably low.

No, I suspected that given their limited intelligence and poor self image that chosing a screen would mistakenly make them think they had achieved some small victory. The prosecution discussion recurs here periodically. The best comment I've seen was from someone familiar with the FBI's approach to mortgage fraud (some time several weeks ago). Apparently, the FBI prioritizes investigations of fraud for money, as opposed to fraud for property. The poster thought that Casey would be more likely to be prosecuted at the state level (with the added wrinkle that his properties/loans are spread out over several states), and that if the Feds do charge him it would be essentially because of his blog.

Here's my take on things.
We have been following this story for months, thinking it would end with the last foreclosure. Instead, Casey juices up the plot with new characters, a book, a trip overseas, wifey drama, a scolding from the brother, taking down the blog and so on.
Now, one of the biggest plot points, the return "home" from Australia, comes and goes like nothing happened. And people are pissed. Talk about anti-climatic. We wanted details about the return trip; we wanted dirt on how the family turned their backs on Casey; we wanted our friggin train wreck.
Meanwhile, LMP's got some legal action going and there's all this back channel chatter and promises of secret information about to be revealed. So, we the spectators are hyped-up and ready for someone to drop the bomb. And through all this hype and speculation about what's going on with Casey, we find out that he's just chilling out watching fireworks on the 4th and acting calm-as-can-be. So, our last glimmer of drama, the court case, turns into a dud and now everyone's pissed.
Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about what Casey did or didn't do. I just find the comments hilarious and make for fun reading over my morning cup of coffee and a bagel. Casey is a fantastic target. He provides never-ending ammo for us to fire relentlessly. And when we get bored, he invents a new reason for us to flame him again and again.
What troubles me is the recent mood change on here. The call to get on the Casey war path. It's gone way past ridiculing his looks, his ignorance, and his laziness to attacking personally and physically. Instead of laughing at Casey the retarded kid, now you want to beat him with his own wheelchair and take his lunch money.

Fraud Charges
While I find all the soap opera stuff about Casey and his wife/family strangely interesting, think train wreck, no one has commented about he elephant in the room. FRAUD and criminal prosecution under Federal wire fraud laws.
Casey has admittedly used fraudulent loan applications to secure his properties, overstating income, debt, etc. One would think these documents were moved about the country using electronic or postal means. The use of electronic and postal means to commit fraud comes under several statutes and can be prosecuted and jail time given.
While Casey seems to try to make these crimes appear to be benign, I think the term he uses is "mistakes", has anyone pointed out to Snowflake that he faces some real potential exposure for criminal prosecution under wire fraud criminal charges?
Every comment he makes on his blog about the "deals", every detail that appears here on EN from those who he has told about his dealings, can and will be used in the future prosecution of Mr Serin for his crimes.
Oh, one thing that I've read here is that Casey is such small potatoes that the banks won't be bothered to go after him. Wrong wrong wrong. Banks and most lenders are Federally regulated, they just can't make bad loans and fraud go away because the amount is too small. Combine that with the "sweet" publicity that Casey has been getting, there has to be some DA just waiting for the complaint to be filed.

Sense most of the "crimes" originated in Sacramento at World Murse HQ, I would guess that they will have the first shot. I'm not sure on how this will come about, ether a complaint by one of the lenders, or from a Grand Jury indictment, but it will happen sooner rather than later.

BTW, that was also something smart Casey did. By spreading his loans wide with multiple lenders, there is little money for each lender to recover individually.
For us, looser W-2 bread winners, $25000 is a lot of money, enough to go to court. Not so for banks like Wells Fargo, at least not to go to court. In fact, these banks don't even have a recovery department like CashCall. Eventually they sell the debt to some collection company for a fraction of the amount, and write-off the loss.

Federal bank regulators do care, even if the frauds are as you put it, "small potatoes". There are probably reporting requirements on all frauds as part of the regulatory process.
WF may not care, but the Feds will.
I read somewhere that unless it is a federal loan like fha or va or one the bank didn't sell the feds won't care because it won't affect the stability of the bank and no federal funds are at risk. I think most of the subprime loans were mostly sold so the motivation by the feds is probably low.

No, I suspected that given their limited intelligence and poor self image that chosing a screen would mistakenly make them think they had achieved some small victory. It has been about two weeks since EN started consistently out drawing IAF so it was (un)natural that we would start getting the detrius from the worst of the Casey addicts. It is also an experiment to see just how many there are. The prosecution discussion recurs here periodically. The best comment I've seen was from someone familiar with the FBI's approach to mortgage fraud (some time several weeks ago). Apparently, the FBI prioritizes investigations of fraud for money, as opposed to fraud for property. The poster thought that Casey would be more likely to be prosecuted at the state level (with the added wrinkle that his properties/loans are spread out over several states), and that if the Feds do charge him it would be essentially because of his blog.
