We're Number Nine

Sometimes I think these survey rankings just make this stuff up. Oxnard/Thousand Oaks made #9 in the Biz Journal's best places for small business list. Here's what they say:
Nearby Los Angeles casts a huge shadow, but Oxnard-Thousand Oaks does a better job of nurturing small businesses. It's ninth in these rankings, while L.A. is 25th. This suburban market leads the nation in payroll growth, but it's still below the norm for small businesses per 100,000 residents. Page 9. And the article.

No mention of $600,000 median houses, crushing business taxes and fees, high personal taxes, expensive transportation, insurance and healthcare costs. The region surely attracts the right kind of people with the incredible quality of life (at a price) but the best quickly move on to greener pastures to grow their businesses.

But we lead the country in numbers of illegal immigrants, failing hospitals, crowed roads, gang bangers, and all sorts of other fun. There's sooooo very much to be happy happy...joy joy joy about.

Not to mention Mayor LaRiza down in the big city of Angeles.

I think LossMitPro may own the Murst now.... 8-P

An impromptu Haterzcast, roughly an hour long, with Duane was just held here --

http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkCast.jsp?masterId=42573

probably have to wait an hour or so for Talkshoe to upload the MP3. Featured Duane, SouthernBread, Tracy, Annie, WeWantTheFunk, and yours truly. :-)

Unknown said...

oh yeah, how could I forget, the beginning of the call featured Casey himself calling in -- yes, the real Casey -- to berate Duane.

For once, Casey was the one who got muted -- he hung up the phone in anger.

Wise words and rules, study them use them when dealing with the Snowflake

THE FERENGI RULES OF AQUISITION

#1 Once you have their money ... you never give it back.

#2 You can't cheat an honest customer, but it never hurts to try.

#3 Never pay more for an acquisition than you have to.

#4 A woman wearing clothes is like a man in the kitchen.

#5 If you can't break a contract, bend it.

#6 Never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.

#7 Keep your ears open.

#8 Small print leads to large risks.

#9 Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.

#10 Greed is eternal.

You forgot one of the more important ones WRT Snowy... #16 (I think)

"A contract is a contract is a contract. But only among Ferengi."

Unknown said...

But...there's 256 of them.

Duane needs to study them before future dealings with the S Flake.

OT: NEW FLIPTARD POST!

It begins . . . again. This time, it's personal.

BUNCH OF CRAZY CRAP IS… going on. I’m PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And its pretty hard to get me pissed.) I will not say more, will go and cool down before I say something stupid about these 3 “characters”.

dm said...

eh, trying to get my blogger account set up again. I haven't posted since Dawg required registration.

Yeah, someone approved LMP's comment that sale of the domain was subject to reversal. About 5 minutes later it was gone.

His server seems to be struggling currently. I wonder what that Media Temple bill is costing him...

i have tried so many times to sign up at the new site and am not getting the email?

Posted on IAFF (I haven't posted there since around Oct 06). To Casey.. (I forgot to set to copy buffer, so it is by remembering)

You don't get it. You agreed to the settlement and effectively the transfer, in front of a Judge.

YOU DON'T FUCK WITH JUDGES!! Get it?

dm said...

so did he actually agree to all of that in front of a judge? i haven't read all the transcripts from the fraud/haterzcasts so I'm a little rusty on KC trivia.

BJ said...

He agreed to the provision of the money from the sale being split, 50% going to Galina for covering the credit that Casey ran up. I think the rest was for a charity?

I think he is trying to weasel out of this part. He wants to do the deal himself and pocket the money. Because Duane has a known, on the table offer at $20K, he has to find one at least $1 more so that he can hide the diff, or be such an ass that Duane wants to withdraw the offer. Then he would be able to claim the amount it is sold at to be as low as $1, pocketing the diff. In addition, LossMitPro was the final say on selling IAFF, but Casey wants to try an under-the-table sale to pocket money.

Everything BUT the sale to Duane was in front of the Judge (and of course the under-the-table transaction attempts etc were not in front of the Judge).

On the fraudcast today, you were asking for opinions about what to do with Snowflake. I'll respond here because I couldn't get Talkshoe configured properly chez moi, and I can't seem to get hooked up to Caseyhaterz.com.

At the risk of pissing off the entire board, I'd cut him some slack. Yes, he is a conman. Yes, he is notorious for his lender-ignore modes etc. In his defense (slight taste of bile in my mouth at those words), he has very recently lost his "baby", finally realized that the FBI is after him and he is likely to do time in prison, and he may actually be realizing that his wife is divorcing him. Plus he is hundreds of thousands in debt and is unlikely to get much of a job from anyone who knows how to use Google. His stress levels must be pretty high at the moment.

So call me naive, but I'd suggest setting some firm date for him to fill out whatever web form that was with the huge red arrow that your IT guy drew for him, and publish the deadline here, on Caseyhaterz and on IAFF so that Snowflake can't come out with "Oh, I told you I wouldn't be around for a couple of hours". If he misses that deadline, give him the FOAD directive.

Other observations: SouthernBread, I think you were the one who started the talkcast but didn't introduce yourself. No offense intended, but I thought you were Casey from the sound of your voice.

Best wishes to all,

NR

bj @ 7:33 PM: KC doesn't want to pocket the difference, he wants to pocket the whole thing.

I know.. but because I grew up with two of these types in my family (one of them my father), I know how they think. He knows he can't get the whole thing... but he is going to twist it so he can get as much as he can. Because of LossMitPro and the Judge.. he needs to either have a selling price significantly higher than $20K to see any money, or has to get Duane to bail and then sell to someone else and do the cashback trick in reverse where the price is claimed to be like 2K when it really was 30K. Buyer pays 28K under the table to Casey, 2K to LossMitPro.

Or, ignore the contract and the judge, sell it to someone for cash tonight/tomorrow, and flee the country again.

Ok.. first things first, you are naive

Second thing, he did have a date to do the transfer and instructions with a big red arrow.. and Casey blew the date off. The transfer is done online, takes less than 15 minutes.

dm said...

See, I'd have to respectfully disagree with NorthernRenter.

Casey has been given so many chances to do the right thing for way too long. Right now, everyone involved with him needs to put the screws to him. He has got to learn that when you make an agreement, you have to follow through on that agreement fully and on time.

Casey excuses himself too much. "I'm not a details guy", "I HAD to be at this meeting", "I needed to get away", "I've been really stressed out", ad infinitum.

The problem is that he's been able to get away with it for too long. He's not had to deal with any of the horrible consequences that he deserves. Times up.

This is coming from a guy who's the same age as Casey. I don't always make the best decisions, but at least I own up to that and deal with any consequences.

The hourglass has run out for Serin. Time for Mark and Duane to deliver "The Serin Ultimatum". (Movie due in theaters August 3rd.) ;)

BJ said...

@segfault

I think he may need a little more time to flee the country.. Trying to get it sold and flee is a problem to do simultaneously. But he may flee first and then sell from foreign country, depositing the money in paypal.

dm said...

Maybe Mark should've gotten a judgement against fliptards PayPal account...?

segfault said...

dm @ 7:53 - Agree, except no ultimatum--just open the floodgates. He's used up all his ultimatums. (BTW, I'm about the same age as Casey as well...)

dm said...

Yeah, I agree about no ultimatums. It's just that the commercial for The Bourne Ultimatum was on earlier and for some reason, my mind immediately went to "The Serin Ultimatum", with Casey swinging through the trees of Australia, disposable cell phone at his side...

I think LMP and Duane should go full force. Casey could find himself in jail by the end of the week.

@LossMitPro

Rob, could you make sure that Duane sees this (before too much 2 buck chuck). and LossMitPro...

Duane,
see posts above by segfault and myself. Don't personalize the dealings with Casey. I would suggest you take a look up Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Wikipedia is wrong. The claim is that it is because of an inferior view of self. Having lived with 2, that is complete bull-shit. It is an inflated view of self, brought on by permissive behavior towards them as a child. They never had any consequences to their actions as an early child, parents were too busy to dig through their manipulation and deal with them. As a child, they will often stir up trouble behind the scenes and then sit back and watch the parents discipline the other kids (not the one who started it). The view of themselves as being 'above' others is fixated at about 8 years of age. Its very hard for them to change afterwards, and change does not come from asking them to change. These people will be very calm while they do things that make other people lose control. (People with NPD can lose control themselves, and what you see of their real persona is rather freaky.. the conditions under which they lose control are a little difficult to go into in this blog)

Duane,
concentrate on isolating the others from Casey's damage (Galina and Anna if possible). If you concentrate on 'saving' Casey, he will use that to keep screwing over others (or throwing under the bus, in front of the train etc). He will keep going for 'one more chance'. Casey fears LossMitPro to some degree. I don't think Casey was very comfortable in front of a Judge, and no-one has pushed/compelled him to be there before.

Keep the 20k offer there. It forces a minimum threshold that Casey would have to meet to even try to skim off money. Let LMP do the TRO, and I would have the domain assigned to LMP to dispose with to the benefit of named creditors. If Casey can come up with a better offer than yours, LMP can handle receipt of payment and transfer to the new owner that Casey has located. That way, no games are pulled. Casey had a chance to do it legit. Now it is done for real. I think this is part of what LossMitPro had in mind with 'flight risk' terms.

I don't know about 'full force'. I would say, do what needs to be done.. take care of business. I don't see it as 'persecuting' someone. I see it as making them stand up to their word, to honor contracts. Unfortunately, people with NPD see it as persecution, because they are so special and above the laws that mere mortals have to comply to.

@Duane LeGate
@LossMitPro
And if it is possible to have to domain reassigned for the benefit of certain creditors, have it done in the Judges chambers if possible. Many Judges have internet service in their chambers. Doing this will remove some issue of having to chase Casey down.

dm said...

He's still making excuses. He won't own up to the fact that he walked away in the middle of a transaction.

Domain transfers take about 5-10 minutes with GoDaddy. If he had waited around for a couple more minutes, he wouldn't be in this mess.

So, did his wife actually file for divorce? I read something a while ago about separation but I don't know that the straight story has been told.

BJ said...

@pleather murse

He also copied a good portion of Item Description from one of his blog posts... How un-original.

Northern Renter said...

dm

You are right, I was just extrapolating from the separation story. But given his current situation, and the fact that she won't return his phone calls/emails, divorce is a possibility that must loom in his mind... if he has any grasp on reality.... but we can argue about that some other time.

bj
Casey sure has some problems, but were I Duane, I'd be very leery about basing any response to Casey on an Internet diagnosis of a particular psychological problem. I have only taken Psych 101, and I don't claim any expertise in psychology or psychiatry. I do know that a number of people have posted here with different psychological analyses of his problem(s). Each one produces a different diagnosis yet each malady sounds persuasively like Snowflake's situation, rather like astrological predictions.

Speaking of Casey and psychology, has anyone else noted that, when confronted with a question that he doesn't like, Casey's reflex to respond with a question makes him sound a lot like the therapist program ELIZA?
