The Music Stops

Southern California housing sales are down 36% y-o-y according to Dataquick. That means something like 50% fewer comissions, service fees, transfer taxes, escrow charges, inspection checks, movers pay, on and on. And the old saw about real estate being local truly applies to the multiplier effect housing transactions generate. Slightly used BMW X5s fresh off lease anyone? Dry cleaning business in Orange County? How about something bigger? Say a newspaper? Bunch of them for sale too. They see the writing on the wall and it ain't pretty. Bloomberg reports Realogy Corp. is cutting spending on newpapaer ads by 2/3rds compared to 2006. Realogy? You know Century 21 and Coldwell Banker brands. The housing music has stopped.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Being a Californian who yearns to move back from this hellhole called Texas, can anyone tell me what housing is doing in the North Bay area? Are prices declining in the Santa Rosa area?

I have ben gone about 10 years, I just hope CA hasn't changed toooo much.

Wow, 2 whole responses to this non-Casey topic, one of them being a murst.

I guess that settles it. This blog is for Casey-obsessed gay guys who think they have a spiritual connection with Casey, or whatever.

Last obsessed faggot out please turn off the lights!

Stu,
The non-Casey topics include information and links that take time to understand. The Dataquick numbers are huge and the problem described Bloomberg article is probably soemthing people haven't seriuosly considered. Give it time.

Come on Dawg, just admit that without the Casey crap you would have no traffic. Now that the two prominent haterz (Duane and Mark) have shot their wad and exposed themselves as bat-shit obsessed retards, your 15 minutes are up too.

Stu,
You are forgiven having not been around long enough. Casey is the fish tank in the front window. Pretty to look at. gets people to pause, expensive to mantain but the real people stay for the atmosphere.

Clay: Prices in Sonoma county are down but know where near reality. The job market in the North Bay sux and most people living up there commute in hell traffic. You can get a new home in Santa Rosa for 475,000 not bad considering the same house 2 years ago was about 750,000. If your serious about relocating I'd say rent for a while to find a deal. The foreclosure rate in Sonoma County is ridiculous. Now that there's no easy money for people 4 grand a month with a sizable down payment for a 475,000 home seems a bit steep. Check out sonomahousingbubble for good info.
