Chart of the Day

Chart of the Day is a dandy little tool. Just another emial in the inbox to read or ignore but ssoemtimes a picyure is worth a thousand words.

This is REITs v S&P 500 both inflation adjusted on a log scale. That narrow channel is actually 50% wide. I smell a short just like lumber last fall. It is almost too easy. Am I missing something?
Update: Added the following chart.
This time without the log scale and the added consideration of the effect of interest rates.

Rob Dawg,
Why would the DOJ be checking out your site...? We all know they're all over Casey's, but it was news to me to find them on your site meter. They need a few vigilantes to figure out WTF is goin on around here?

Rob Dawg said...

I get some interesting IPs. There are a xouple posts from years past discussing Supreme Court decisions and I still get hits from their Administative Offices. I'm pretty sure anybody who linked to IAFF is on a routine sweep review. Wouldn't it be great if they did their job? Maybe even expose a bigger fish in the Res-Com and appraisal scheme(s).

I'm sure HalFuckinBurton and ExxonFuckinMoblie, etc. had nothing to do with any of this sheet. Absolutely not. They've done so much for this country (i.e., fuck it up the ass).

Manufactured sources of fear are just that. MANUFACTURED. Angst - at least in my case – is the fear of what the manufacturers manufacture.

2. CSI
3. Bush/Cheney bashing fatigue
4. Many of today's subjects require deeper than normal replies.
5. ENs 15 minutes of fame are up

Take your pick.

Hey Rob-Dawg

I agree short term this may turn, but it is still within the channel and in an uptrend. Wouldn't it be a safer play to short after it broke support and was in an established down trend?

Anonymous said...

Rob,

You are missing the fact that market irrationality can exceed one's solvency, not that it is a bad play, just not a bet it all play.

Beans,

Those that care about your keywords do not crawl, they are installed in the telcos and the data centers.

Or go long on the S&P 500?

I've never traded based on technicals, but that's because I used to have access to great info due to my job, friends, associates.

With that said, wouldn't it be a little less risk to see if the NAREIT pops through resistance first? Sure, you may shave a few points of gain, but you could mitigate some of the risk of the NAREIT breaking through.

And to partially answer why I've been so quiet this evening:

1. The Office
2. Scrubs
3. 30 Rock
4. Installing a bomb kitchen faucet (at least it's better than the existing one)

I meant to add Kombucha to my addictions. Have you ever grown a Kombucha? It is quite a complicated undertaking.

Had so many pure white mushrooms growing and expanding all over the place it got a little out of control so I decided to utilize them as fertilizer, but still feel guilty about my Kombuchas.

I only look t otechnicals to see if they are diverging or confirming the fundamentals. This one just struckme as a runaway from th fundamentals. Looks like nothing more than liquidity chasing returns.

hey guys, if I can threadjack for a second, I need some advice.

I'm in a job hunt, and tonight I got an email from one company asking if I'd like to come in for an interview. When I hit this company's website to find out more about who I'd be interviewing with, I discovered that one of the company honchos is someone who literally went to jail for insider trading. How do i know? I used to work with the guy at a company some years back. Not long after I left, the company had a major stock scandal and this guy, plus a few others, pled out and/or went to jail on a range of charges, including conspiracy, stock fraud, and insider trading.

My impulse was to send an email saying that no way in hell do I want to work for a company who employs a felon in a position of such responsibility. However, as good as it might feel to get on a self-righteous rant, it's not my style to burn bridges like that, nor is it a smart career move.

So, I am undecided -- should I go on the interview, or should I simply send a polite thanks but no thanks email?

Sprezzatura,

It's always good to practice your interviewing skills.

And, who knows, maybe the receptionist will be a hottie.

Peace,

Anonymous said...

P.S. Go on the interview. It could be interesting.

Anonymous said...

P.S.S. If they pay airfare, hotel cost, room service, etc. it could be an even more interesting experience.

Anonymous said...

Sprezzatura,

Go on the interview. But be ready with an answer if someone asks you why you want to work for them given the ex-insider trading head cheese. Was he acquited?

To answer the above question (#1)

*I* am the DOJ person Hitting BOTH Casey and Robert. I'm not involved in Mortgage Fraud, or any other crimes he could be committing. Let me know if he tries to vote twice, or something.

Otherwise, I am acting as a concerned citizen, collecting information and sending it onwards to AGs and the FBI just like you all do

Anonymous said...

Sprezz,

Pretend Mr. Ex con is Casey, then make your decision.

Should be easy.

Anonymous said...

Sprezz,

Maybe they don't know he's a felon and you can get his job?

I bet you there is some employer out there that doesn't know Casey is a looser.

Anonymous said...

Hey R-Boy
Thanks for all the work you have done so far. Homey obviously gives you a big thumbs up, and you have been honest around here all the way...yeesh, I'm starting to sound like Nigel! Steph J I think I may need one of your kick back to reality boots to the balls!

Anonymous said...

Sprezz, take the interview(road trip baby), see if you can talk to this guy, see if he owns up to it or pushes it aside ...ie..he tells you he is failing forward, or yes he did it but he wants to believe he didn't. Obviously if he says those things run!

Anonymous said...

Hey Rob that chart up there, can't make out the writing...is the blue line your site hits and the green line Casey's over time?

Yes, I got my lil' win-weiner caught in the paper shredder, so what? It’s not really a disaster if I choose to not look at it that way. I prefer to see it as a "blowjob." Controlling what I believe is a very important process of becoming successful.

Look, I had pretty good strategy: fix-n-flip. However, I failed in the fixing part. I also failed in the flipping part. Yet, I did pretty well with the -n- part. Controlling what I ignore is a very important process of becoming successful.

Out of my way, haters, I'm failin' through...........

Also, the -n- stands for -nap-

Sprezz, As far as interviewing goes, I was trying to locate something I read a while back http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/GuerrillaInterviewing3.html and in re-reading within the Casey context, I can see why he doesn't have a "real" job....
"In principle, it’s simple. You’re looking for people who are

Smart, and
Get things done.
That’s it. That’s all you’re looking for."

If there is any God, on monday the National White Collar Crime Center should be visiting IAFF.

I hope so. Otherwise I'll just elevate what I am up to here.

I should know more Monday. I'd do more, but I have two teams at trial that I'm supporting from the home base. Sigh.

Not sure if anyone hear reads the 'Financial Week' but there was an interesting article in this week's edition about the top bankers not sure whether the system is over exposed in the derivatives market.

I have it in hardcopy but you can read it here if you are registered:

http://www.financialweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070219/REG/70219021/1023/OTHERVIEWS

basically it states Ben doesn't want banks tied down by regulation, the NY fed president states banks have no clue how exposed they are, Paulson thinks hedge funds reduce the risk banks are exposed to by purchasing these and the German Finance minister and G-7 are trying to head off the domino effect this could have on the system.

Basically what will happen will make the S&L crisis look like small potatoes. No one is will to admit it though!

Anonymous said...

@Anon 10:54

With all the hard work, and I bet, bad press that Amy got on that house, I am sure that she FEELS entitled to some compensation, so she is still listing it. A few more 'emails' about her breasts and bangability, maybe a few about blowjob backs on the deal etc.. will soon make it not worth her while. heh

Rob Dawg said...

Wow, "Financial Week." This is one wired-in collective. Yes like you, I'm concerned that the hedge/deriviatives/tranching/futures/etc markets are doing to thw world economy what "The Producers" did to Broadway productions.

Thus I call a new thread.

@anonymous at 10:54 am

Casey tried to get Amy to list one of his other houses, she sent him a blow off email saying she was too busy after he posted her pic and called her cute on IAFF.

R-Boy -

Please don't forget the $50k Countrywide promissory note that he signed and now believes he doesn't owe, based on his... not wanting to owe it.

That one really irks me. Has anyone contacted them to let them know he has no intention of paying?

Anonymous said...

Every time I see that ugly house I get annoyed. How difficult/expensive is it to put in some carpet or laminate floors for f sake? It shows exactly how eager he is to pay back every dirty penny. The juxtaposition of the dilapidated crack house and Amy’s smiling vapid bleached teeth face is so absurd it is almost comical.
