Big Fish Little Fish

I'm getting flooded with calls and emails about his lies! People are bursting to tell the truth. Someone is going to finally have enough and go first and then the floodgates will open. More on this later. Talk away.

You know, some people can still be remarkably appealing and interesting to speak to or listen to, even if you know in advance they are con men, murderers,or malcreants.

Casey has that gift.

Just like all gifts, it can be a curse, too, since I think he has learned to use his tools to manipulate.

So Why not?

I was always told to avoid trouble. That is good enough for me; to not either enable, help, or possibly even fall into league with someone so seductive in speech and manner, but so vapid at the core.

This is how stalkers are created, if he won't give up his percieved power over her, it could get ugly.

He's already trying - that's where this whole Mark-and-Duane-are-trying-to-fuck-Galina thing is coming from. Casey's beginning to build a narrative wherein he's the victim and Galina's being naive, foolish and unintentionally hurtful. Tonight he was debugging the story.

I agree that the marriage story is far from over here. I also think that he's working up this narrative for more than one reason, whether he knows it or not. If it doesn't fly with Galina, he can use it to snare a new woman, someone more pliable than Galina is (apparently) turning out to be.

Stalking is a possibility, but I kinda doubt it. Aggression isn't in the typical NPD profile - they prefer picking off the weak and slow at the rear of the herd.

Mouse And Pencil said...

@Sprezz

Neither do I, but I think it's unavoidable at this point.

Granted, if he were that stupid, there's about 100 guys at least who would leave for Sacramento or wherever the worm was hiding to get him.

I agree it's unlikely -- he would have to give a sh&t first.

The only appeal she has for him is in how she reflects things into Casey's life, not in any independent standing of her own. So once he decides she is of no further use, he will just detach, no problem.

soem dood said...

Not to egg on Duane, but he is doing himself no favors:

1) Why be pissed? Shows emotion that some would feel is entirely inappropriate for the situation. Seems reinforcing to 'concerns' some have.

2) Saying you have only seen her once is same genre of thought -- almost reeks of desperate distant, unrequited interest of more than a friendly or business nature.

The best disinfectent for this corner of the saga is very obvious: distance and transparency.

Again, I don't know what standing either of these guys has legally, and I think whatever standing they have to interact with family is even murkier.

If the reason is to 'bring Casey to justice' then they are being 'used'.

All IMHO.

I tend to agree w/Honestly Wondering and soem dood; I don't think Casey's gonna go Lifetime-movie stalker on Galina. I don't think he's the type to make breather calls, get violent w/her, etc. Like dood said, he'd have to give a shit first. (I could be wrong, but I don't think it's likely.) That's not to say he's not going to bug the shit out of Galina on some level 'til this is all settled in a court of law. Either he'll be bugging her via e-mail or phone not to say/do something, or he'll just ignore her and force her to get a default judgement against him, thus bugging the crap out of her by going into Galina Ignore Mode. (And perhaps a couple of not so thinly veiled swipes at her via IAFF --like the "Not Welcome Home" post-- will be in order until this is all somehow decided.) I'm sorry about this mess you're in, Galina; I hope this fiasco is over as quickly as possible for you!

NAO re: law-talkin' dude

I missed all references to that (hooked in late), but it is possible that Casey was doing what accomplished liars do:

1) "Do you have a lawyer? " A: (truth) "Nope."

2) "What do you intend to do blah blah.." A: "I will have my lawyer do this... that... the other..."

What Casey might have done is transfered from what is actual to what he deems is possible or he can invsion happening in some scenario.

So Casey "sees" a pro bono law-talkin'-dude workin on his behalf, and so he talks as if it is so....

Is it a lie? Not if *you* believe it...

Jake:

I really do apologize for any nasty real-time comments I made. In a weird juxstaposition, people seem 'realer' to me on say EN, than on the talkcast, because I am interacting with people on EN, but not on talkcast, so it is easy for me to do stream of consciousness snark or observations.

The 'net does seem to allow us to easily dehumanise, and so while not trying to excuse my own conduct too much, I hope you were not too much hurt/offended.

I could sense the emoting you were doing, but it really did not come out as a lucid dialog to my ears, so that caused my own responses, but as you say nervousness, not expecting to get 'called on' certainly could weigh heavily.

Not that you owe anyone anything, but if you do care to further your points that were on your mind, I am all ears, or if not, that's cool too.

Jake said...

When I thought in the past about what I would talk about if I ever talked to Casey would be:
1) If you so you're a Christian (or any religion) you get held to a higher stand.
2) My grandma told me a prayer she used to have for all of her children and grandchildren, the ending shocked me... If you do anything wrong, may God will punish you for it.
3) Family and most importantly your spouse is the most important thing is the world. Possessions are just shit. I was in the Red River Flood of 1997, and I lost most to all of my belongings, but my family was safe, which was the most important thing in the world. It was really scary living without a home, hotels, shelters, etc. I completely feel for the Katina victims.
4) Health/Suicide - I just wanted to make sure he saw a doctor and try to make sure he doesn't commit suicide. I was going to tell him about holding ice if you feel the need to hurt yourself. It's hard to feel that this real and I just don't want to see anyone die.

The person I care most about is Galina, so I wanted to speak in a way that she would understand that people care.

Really, Casey is pretty mellow..and takes his problems like that...

Still he knows he's in trouble. So he's asking for advice.

Another Coor Lite for me....

Relentless said...

Oh, he asks for advice all the time.

The he runs it through the casey filter which removes any suggestions that require work or hardship and decides it was bad advice.

soem dood said...

Jake:

Those are well-said, and I think worth consideration.

I also got a lot more of the Old Testament" Wrathful/Vengeful God in my own upbringing, and it kinda turned me off of religion. I ended up discovering that many self-professed Christians, including clergy, see the most vital role for religion as providing a fear-factor [Hell fire, damnation, etc] for you to do right while here; otherwise, people could do any old thing they wanted!

This can be tested when you ask them questions that lead them to conclude (100% for the ones I spoke with) "Well, if there is no God, then man could just do anything with impunity!"

Well, man does do anything. And sometimes with impunity, sometimes not. Some get 'lucky' and never get caught.

I discovered independently that I tend to follow societies laws because they make sense in general, and not because of some mystery guy behind the curtain eyeballing my every move. I don't want people to take my stuff; society frowns and punishes people who take stuff, and so, I don't take others things, and expect similar treatment. Ditto marriage conventions, murder, etc.

Some of what my own society treasures is not treasured and is in fact rejected by other societies. Perhaps for good reason. But in any event, I don't need some supposed all knowing God to scare me straight.

Sorry to drift off into my own thing there, just wanted to acknowledge that you obviously have a lot of ideas on your mind and would like to find out Casey's own thoughts on some of this -- perhaps even to turn him to the right course.

I wish that were possible, but the more I see, the more I tend to agree that Casey is unlikely to change for real.

But that does not mean society has no interest in reeling him in. Who needs a vengeful firebreathing God when we have the IRS and many other mechanisms to enforce our collective will and order?

society deserves to be able to protect itself, like any organism, it is it's first order of business. Casey, IMHO, is a mop-topped, conniving leech, trying to freeload on other's efforts. And I cannot abide it, if I can influence it to be corrected.

@Jake,

Your sympathy is completely normal, but be careful not to "cast your pearls before swine". There's no one here who hasn't thought at one point that "if I could just talk some sense into that boy" . . . but it doesn't appear to work, you see. Thus the frustration and venting.

Your Grandma may have understood that God's chastisement can be a good thing if it brings about change. (Or it could be that she completely missed the point of Grace, either one).

Please don't worry or shed a tear over what some of the crazy people here thought of your talk with Casey. Think about it -- Friday night and what are we all doing? (I can't stand the thought myself).

Anonymous said...

The Guadalajara rental agreement was quite interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've never heard about that one until now. It was $3500 for 9(?) months. That is way to high a rate for that property. Roughly $30K of "Sweet Cash Back" that doesn't count as "Sweet Cash Back".

My guess is that Casey was supposed to pay the mortgage for 9 months in time for the builder/broker to get out from any obligations to the person who bought the loan.

At 3195/month the mortgage payment is just under he was getting as "rent". Figure 3000 total over nine months. Of course Fliptard doesn't realize everything else he has to pay, like taxes. Of course he doesn't pay for nine months and a little over a year later it goes to foreclosure.

He was very quiet about this house as well. He talked about the foreclosure but not about the deal.

Casey is a big fan of Exurbannation.blogspot.com..

Siduri said...

@Likkered,

We live in an NV homes development. The builder's models are always sold first to people like Casey. The builder pays the mortgage (so really an above-market rent) while the house is still a model.

In this development's case, the model was a model from 2002-2005, after which point the buyer has tons of sweet equity and could have then sold for a windafall profit.

In a down market, the scheme doesn't work so well.

Siduri said...

I should clarify. The builder pays rent, but at the rate that the mortgage payments cost.

The buyer (like Casey) is still expected to pay the mortgage, of course.

Some of my thoughts on tonight's fraudcast and haterzcast.

It seems Snowflake has invented a new phrase: "Leekerz". This is for anyone in his "inner circle" who shares THEIR side of Snowflake's story. Notice how he talked down and eventually muted Duane when Duane tried to bring up his conversation with a tearful Galina?

(paraphrased)

Snowflake: What right have you to step into MY personal business? Who asked YOU to speak for my family?

Duane: Well, your brother Steve and your wife Galina did.

Snowflake: This is personal stuff you have no right to put this out on the internet.

Lather, rinse, repeat...

Duane, I'd have asked him "Why are you so afraid of the truth coming out?"

@Benoit:

If you're the internet's premier detective, I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 100. What is it?

@Duane:

Since this has come up, here is my take on your motivations:

You offered your help to Snowflake because you felt sorry for some poor schlub who got in way over his head. After the official helping went south, you still maintained contact with him. Eventually, Steve and Galina contacted YOU for help. You are one of the seemingly increasingly rare GENTLEMEN, who wanted to help a woman in distress because IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO! And what's in it for you? The ability to sleep at night with a clear conscience. And to be able to look at yourself in the mirror when you shave with no shame.

As for that crap Pink Lips was feeding Snowflake, I can understand how he loved it. That made him the victim of a conspiracy. That's easier for him to accept than the consequences of his own actions and inactions. No reasonable person believes that crap for a second. It's a hell of a thing when someone has to defend himself for doing THE RIGHT THING.

Duane, I've run into some trouble myself. Some friends helped me out. I've since been able to pay them back the money they loaned me. I wouldn't think to insult them by offering them interest, so when it seems appropriate, I repay the interest forward. I suspect by trying to help Snowflake and by currently helping Galina, you're paying something forward. It's none of my business, but if you are, good on you!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the info Harriet. I suppose it's possible that Snowflake bought a model home. He still probably listed it as owner occupied.

lawnmower man said...

The Guadalajara rental agreement was quite interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've never heard about that one until now.

It's described in the leaked audio files.

Casey bought a builders' model with an agreement that included the builder leasing it back as a show home for 9 months at a rate that pretty much covered the mortgage payments.

Casey found it irresistible because "hey, free house". But then when things went bad he started spending the lease payments instead of applying them to the mortgage.

It was a pure speculation play: Casey was betting on appreciation to get him out of it when the 9 months was up. He bet wrong.

If you're the internet's premier detective, I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 100. What is it?

Pi? ;-)

The saddest thing is that this was probably Casey's smart deal. At least for 9 months he should have been able to break even.
