Crossing State Lines (for the last time)?

Rumor is our intrepid mogul in training has slunk off to Tahoe. Makes sense to me from what we know about how Caseyworld™ works. No money = discretionary spending. RE investment = look in the most unviable locations. Deadlines = procrastinate.

Tahoe is on my double secret list of places that aren't ground zero for bubble busts but worse; places where excess bubble pressure is stored. The bubble may pop but Tahoe, Big Bear, Palm Springs, Sedona are going to explode in flames. There are things that could save these kinds of places but only if the vacation home owners and small time specuvestors end up giving up their other properties to "live a simpler lifestyle." Code for losing the primary house in SF, Sacto, LA or Phoenix.

Is someone saving all the images and old blog info of Mr Serin on the net? I believe those pages/images should appear on one site.. and preserved. It would obviously help the DA when they prosecute.

Come to think of it, our little friend probably has a better chance of making money in casino gaming than in RE.

He should corral whatever loose change he has left and park himself in a sports book.

WTF...he can't do any worse than he has to this point. At least if he taps out, the casino won't lend him money to keep throwing away.

New living room furniture from Macy's? Do they even have a living room? They rent 2 bedrooms from the SIL. I guess this means that the "office" where sweet deals are born is being converted into living space.

im think that has always concerned me is that casey really lies about alot of stuff and omits lots of information.

remember the $3000 to launch the comeback?

(he borrowed 3K, then most likely held onto $1100 to immediately pay back within a week or so, to give the impression that he has started to pay it back and only has 2x $1100 payments left, with the agreement that he can pay his so called friend back 'when he can')

did casey think we forgot about the $4000 he borrowed from an elderly nieghbor??

SERIOUSLY, im sure there is a history of MLM and STOCKINVESTING shenannigans we dont know about,
how can our psuedo webcelebrity not have taken advantage of these stockpicker programs with their slick infomercials and free seminars, they make me sick when i see them, always something about 'its so easy, i just watch the green arrows and know when its time to buy, when i see the red i know its the right time to sell,,,hey i made $60000 in one month*

*results are unique, your experience may be different)

im sure theres also a history of playing the horses, lottery tickets and tons of scratch off tickets in the trunk of that jetta!

Heres a comment i found on http://www.uncsense.com/root/2005/10/alright_knock_i.html
about INVESTTOOLS, obviously some
market analysis blog then the last sentence ends in a link"

For anyone interested in learning how to trade like the pros, check out INVESTools."

which of course brings out the haters...

***********

I've seen posts all over the web asking for reviews of Investools, the investor education service peddled by Phil Town at numerous Get Motivated Seminars around the U.S.. Well I have some experience with this.

I went to a Get Motivated seminar which is produced by Peter Lowe, and yes I signed up for the $495 workshop nearly a year ago. I presently subscribe to their Investor Toolbox website, but I am looking for a different vendor, perhaps Meta Stock, Trade Station, or OptionVue.

I've learned quite a bit about Investools, their partner Success Magazine, and how they operate. So, If you have a few minutes, I'll tell it to you straight.

If you go to the Get Motivated seminar and pay for the $495 workshop, you are going to attend a day-long workshop which is a production of Success Magazine which has partnered with Investools. Success Magazine wants to sell you lots of expensive training. The workshop is about half educational and about half hype. They teach you quite a bit about how to analyze stocks using the Investools website, but they spend half the day telling you that if you want to make the real money, you need to learn how to trade options, and that will cost you more, much more. It had a very infomercial, get-rich-quick feel about it.

They have three educational programs, Basic Options, Advanced Options, and Advanced Technicals for the tidy sum of $4,000, $10,000, and $16,000. The way it works is, if you buy the upper tier packages, you get the lower tiers thrown in for the price. (By the way, I'm going by memory on the prices, I may be off a little in either direction, but I think I'm fairly close)

I didn't purchase any of the programs. Rather, I bought books by noted options experts and technical analysis experts, Lawrence McMillan, John Murphy, Bernie Schaefer, etc. I read the books again and again, and then I started trading. I would do it the same way again. I only spent a few hundred dollars on the materials, and I suspect I got a more in-depth education. If I had several thousand dollars laying around, and if I was too lazy to do it on my own, perhaps their educational courses would be the way to go. As for me, I've got more time and determination than idle cash. By the way, I am profitable in my options trading.

Here is the real problem with Investools/Success Magazine. If you don't pay for the education programs you don't get access to the "good stuff" on the web site. That's right! When you sign up for the $495 workshop, you get "Gold" level access the site which it turns out is the lowest level of access. If you buy either of the 2 lower tier courses ($4,000 and 10,000 respectively) you get "Platinum Access", which is a little better; But if you want access to all of the advanced technical indicators you've got to ante up with the big bucks ($16,000 or so). The selection of technical indicators that is included with the platinum and gold eccess is very limited.

What's worse is that they don't tell you that you're not getting access to the full set of technical indicators. It's kind of like buying a car only to find out that you're getting it a piece at a time. First the wheels, then the engine, but if you want a steering wheel, pay up. It all has a very "used car salesman" feel about it.

I can tell you about their advanced technicals because, for awhile, I had access to them. I didn't know I had access to something extra until they took it away. Apparently they goofed and gave me something they didn't intend to for awhile. Now I no longer have access to the indicators that I came to rely on.

Also, the prices for education and subscriptions seem to be a moving target. They call you every now and then with the latest great deal on a course or website renewal, and the prices seem to vary quite a bit. During one sales pitch I learned that I don't need to spend the full $16,000 to get access to the advanced technicals, I just need to spend $1,995 for a book and a few dvd's. I wouldn't get the one-on-one coaching, but I would get access to the advanced technicals. No thank you.

This is why I'm looking for a different vendor. I know MetaStock has the technicals I'm looking for, and I suspect TradeStation does too.

In all fairness to Investools, they do have one indicator (which they claim is proprietary) that is truly amazing. They call it their "Market Forecast" tool. I have back tested it, and it accurately calls market changes for the DOW-30 and NASDAQ almost every time. This is my only hang-up about changing to a different vendor. I use the "Market Forecast" regularly to trade .DIA options and .QQQQ options with much success. Since this tool is available on their "Gold Access" I think I'll probably drop my subscription level down to gold and look elsewhere for the rest of what I need. If I ever find anything like Investools' Market Forecast anywhere else, I'll drop Investools for good.

One more thought, Success Magazine is the cheap back door into Investools, but you get less. For example, you don't have access to the tutorial on how to read the "Market Forecast" with the Success Magazine version of the Investools site. This is another thing I was mistakenly given access to. (They seem to make a lot of these mistakes). When everyone signed up for the workshop and got their logins for the particular workshop I went to, we were all mistakenly given access to the full Investools site. It didn't take them long to realize they had made a mistake, and then suddenly I found thay the look of the site had changed from green to blue and from Investools to Success Magazine. They tell you that both sites are the identical, but that is not entirely true.

If you're stuck on the idea of Investools, be sure to contact them directly and compare prices with the Success Magazine version and make them get specific about what indicators you get. Which tutorials will you have access to?, etc. (You have to pay extra for the tutorials, something like $59.)

If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably still go to the $495 workshop, just because it got me started, but I'd still stick with the books, and I'd go straight to MetaStock or TradeStation for my real analysis software and data.

Good Luck
TellItStraight

I am up 35% for the month of January in stocks. I focused on two stocks and watched them dip and rise and dip and rise. Technically, I'm done for the year and have done much better than money market funds or banks.

Now if I was like Casey, I would keep plowing more money into it..and start calculating..let's see, 35% a month multiplied by 12 month = 420% in one year!!!! I could be like those mortgage brokers(like Nigel) who started spending like their monthly income was a given and blow it all at the casinos or 20 thousand dollar fun weekends.

I don't think Casey would have done well with stocks because it is actually pretty hard work...he would just outsource it to the team member that is in charge of investments. I mean the guy wants to outsource opening his mail and paying bills....

Hi Robert,

It looks like one of your local city councilmen is up to no good. No sooner than the governator gets some money lined to deal with transit issues, guys like William Fulton step up to demand that the money be used to buy up land to prevent outlying development, and invest in more "smart growth" like the apartments over outdoor malls and theaters that we're seeing here in Santa Monica. Here's hoping that you don't get this sort of unlivable development in VenCo.

Sorry to put this in a Casey thread, but I didn't see a relevant thread that was fresh, and I thought you might have some trenchent comments...

A longtime family friend, before his retirement, was a money manager for a very wealthy European family that you've all heard of.

And what investing advice does he give to people who have a lot less money? Dollar-cost averaging into index funds. He says it is the best, lowest-risk way for regular people to invest successfully. (Barry Ritholtz over at The Big Picture gives similar advice, by the way).

By the way, that personality test Casey did was too little too late. NOW he wants to do some introspection? Now he wants to know what character flaws he has? What a buffoon! How bout you do all that before you go on a 2.2 million dollar spending spree genius! Hell, do some inventory before you even buy a house! Now it's too late to realize that you don't think things thru, are impulsive, and have the self control of a 2 year old that is constantly wetting himself.

Ok, I've calmed down a bit after my outburst in the other thread. I am once again convinced that C&G will get what's coming to them.

(If I were in their shoes, I already would've. The stress would have broken me.)

Something will happen, sooner or later. It's inevitable when one flies so close to the waves financially and wears out one's welcome with family and friends. Something as simple as Vdubs blowing a head gasket on the way back from Tahoe could put them in a world of hurt.

Now on another note, I'd asked yesterday why the Boy Blunder was so hung up on protecting G from the consequences of this mess when his old blog shows her as a full participant. I saw this anon post on Caseyland USA:

I think one of the things that Casey is trying to accomplish with IAFF is to establish deniability for Galina (as opposed to his earlier blog, where she was clearly heavily involved in Casey's real estate scams). That, coupled with Casey's frequent comments about preserving Galina's credit, leads me to think that he thinks that he can declare BK, and then use Galina's credit to keep pursuing those sweet deals.

What a horrible thought... using G's credit to fund a comeback... has he learned nothing?

Naaaw, it couldn't be that maybe Casey was being an ahole and not keeping his part of the bargain right? Nope, enablers like yneone and Nigel always blame everybody else except for the one person that truly needs the blame, their own little precious.

By the way, WTF is up with these ps and special notes crap she has been peddling lately. What, does she feel special becuase she has a magic casey decoder ring where they send special messages to each other? Why doesn't she just send him an email and leave the 'special' comment out.

I wouldn't surprise me to see Casey and Galina divorce, only to see Casey go hook up with a new woman that has great credit that he can use and exploit.

Even with all the negative publicity, I am always amazed that there are some people that always go after losers like Casey. Even serial killers end up with groupies.

Anonymous said...

I thought that too OGG

but get this, if Galina's credit can't be saved, guess where she is going? Casey will toss her aside and latch on to the next golddigger with good credit that he can con with his 'riches' They've done stories aon A and E about these con artists that marry and borrow all over the US. Casey is no different...just a bit less quiet and discrete about it.

Hell if I was a DA prosecuting this numbskull, I would just hand the judge a paper with his website ...there ya go judge, everything you need to know is right there.

Anonymous said...

Well, look at the bright side for Casey -- after the inevitable divorce, when he starts looking the next debt enabler, he'll be able to tell them that he's financially stable.

Unfortunately, he'll leave out the part that "stable" here means that he's stably, firmly planted in seven figures of debt. :-p

Nigel? Pegged for the asskissing groupie that he really is.

So in a nutshell? I can sleep easy at night knowing that this turdburglar WILL be brought to justice. The people on this blog have proven that they know who to report to, can dig up anything that this loser tries to hide, and have outted him for the sham that is his website.

Some notes on mutual fund investing. If you don’t have time to invest in individual stocks, your best bet is a low cost index fund which has an expense ratio below 0.4% and a turns over its portfolio less than 5%. Otherwise you are giving up a big portion of your returns to fees and taxes. Over an investment time horizon of 20 or 30 years this makes a huge difference in your portfolio. You can go on any investment calculator on the internet and look at the difference between earning 11% per year versus 7.5% (11% -1% expenses-2.5% taxes). The mutual fund returns you see in the advertisements do not take into account the annual tax bite. Of course if you have your money in an IRA or 401K then the taxes won’t matter.

A managed mutual fund has an average turnover rate of approximately 85%, meaning that funds are selling most of their holdings every year.
http://www.fool.com/school/basics/basics04.htm

The Securities and Exchange Commission says more than 2.5 percent of the average stock fund's total return is lost each year to taxes, significantly more than the amount lost to fees. The tax bite varies from zero percent for the most tax-efficient funds to 5.6 percent for the least efficient.

I hope I don't kill the traffic by following sm_landlord off-topic, but I love the following quote ftom the LAT opinion piece:

"For almost 40 years, the near-miraculous decrease in tailpipe emissions in California has been offset by residents driving more. Technology alone won't solve the problem."

Umm, actually, this "near miracle" is called engineering. Dude, in the engineering world, besting the efficiency of 1960s internal combustion engines is low hanging fruit. If the customers would allow it, we could easily have 60mpg cars with exceptionally low emissions, running gasoline, and with no electric drivetrain. It's like beating Casey's portfolio would be in the finance world. No miracles, just a little math.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled Casey.

I think people give far too much credit to G's intelligence and abilities.

Seeing photos of her dressed up (e.g. playing project manager) and Casey's side comments about her on the sercasey blog (e.g. "she's not ready to handle that project yet") suggest to me that she is basically a dumb airhead. Now granted i'm not living in the states, but my experiences with girls like that (especially younger ones) in australia is they are incompetent and just go along with what turns up in front of them.

Now if some guy appears who is offering to make all her problems go away, she may well jump ship if she has any clue about how screwed they really are.. but then again, those two are in such MAJOR denial I expect she would put up a fair bit of resistance to someone trying to snatch her up. i would guess in that situation her self image would still such be that this new guy has to earn (or buy) her. Of course, that is a complete joke because at this point she would be a major liability both personality-wise and financially.

On an unrelated note i give a standing ovation to who-ever found that background info from casey's other blog. To anyone who is acting all shocked and outrage that IAFF is not all it pretends to be, all i can say is a big "DUH". That's why i never posted there, it has been blantently obvious from day 1 that something smells wrong about that place. While casey has a real talent for pissing off complete strangers, I'd only rate his Technical Trolling Skills (TTS) as average at best. He re-uses too much material and the naive act is just way over the top.

I think the Tahoe trip post was just a joke. Using their last credit line at Macys to trade furniture for a trip to Tahoe?? Come on.

If I was to speculate based on his old blog, Galina was involved with everything. Her names on titles, they used her credit for classes, she dealt with the contractors, etc... I think Casey probably talked her into all this and she saw $ signs. Now that the scheme is falling apart, she doesn't want to have anything to do with it and is demanding that he get her out of this mess. I would bet she would leave as soon as he figures out one last scam to pay her debts off. If she leaves now, she's stuck with all that credit card debt in her name.

Something isn't quite right there.

I did get some port scans, if that's what you mean, but i couldn't determine who they were from.

Casey and Galina have actually made the final cross over: They've become message board icons.

Thought you'd all get a kick out of it, especially the photoshopped Casey up top.

@stanley

That's it, if Chris Record can be one of the top income earners..then imagine what someone with a brain could do!!!

Screw the video card! I am all in for the guru seminars and real estate riches. Now if only I could find the links to that real estate crash seminar that Casey went to last year!

I'm gonna sell all my houses short!!!

@anonymous

"just shoot him an email and tell him how you want to bang his wife vanessa in the asshole!"

Was that really necessary? She is a human being after all, and banging her in the ass is just so tasteless. I would treat her with respect...you know, slap her on the forehead with my 10 inch c@@@ (hey if Casey can lie, why can't eye?) oops freudian slip, before giving her a load of my sweet jamba juice.

Legion,

I don't think your mom will let you sell the single wide trailer. You need someplace to live.

HeyI own that trailer! If my mom doesn't like it she can move the hell out!

New IAFF post:

February 4th, 2007
Hazard Insurance and Foreclosure

Somebody asked me if I’m paying my hazard insurance earlier. Well, the insurance policy on the Burdett property expired and I didn’t have the money to renew it. So I got this letter from the lender. They are basically going to open a new hazard insurance policy for me charge my escrow account. Smart move by the lender to protect their collateral. I’m assuming all the other lenders are going to do the same.

@Benoit
Suggest? She married Casey Serin. I think that bears repeating -- She. Married. Casey. Serin.
Nuff said. ;-)

Hahaha yeah you got me on that one. I was at work in consultant mode when i wrote that post. She's obviously a f%%king idiot but that was kinda my point.

people seem to be giving her credit for forward planning, lining up a new sugar daddy etc.. i find that hard to believe given that we are talking about someone who, ahem, Married. Casey. Serin.

i'd say she's dumb enough to be standing there with a stupid look on her face when the hammer finally drops

oh this whole 'omgz G is teh hotz!1!elventy1!!' crowd: Please. I saw at least 3 women hotter than that walking 100m from the train station to the office this morning.

Stanley,
Chris gets about $8000 per person he signs up for that real estate "college".

I am willing to bet that he sold one of those to Casey, hence the other $22,000 loan he doesn't talk about. All Chris has to do is get 11 people to sign up and hes there..If you have the right personality you can find 11 Caseys and sell them on it. I have seen their hard pitch on other boards and many would fall for it, especially with their promise of a member being able to buy properties through them..Sad but true...

Anonymous said...

let us see pictures of chris's wife vanessa so we can compare. I'm sure someone here can find something.

if vanessa is hot too, then the land of make-believe will proudly host a nude jello wrestling match to the death between galina and vanessa.

sponsored by jamba juice and macaroni grill.

I need the funds -- tried flipping castles and the market turned south.

someone did a inmate check at placer county jail

look up a suprun (galina's maidenname)

should be a public lookup site somewhere. gotta walk the doggie and get ready for the real world of 9-5, hopefully another intrepid investigator will have a link...

Anonymous said...

"Suprun" is an interesting name. In Russian, "suprug" or "supruga" means "spouse".

Anyway, on the one hand, it seems unlikely that Young Casey will face prosecution and if he does he will avoid serious jail time. The Boy Blunder is a criminal, but he is still white, not obviously from a trailer park and as far as we know, his crimes have not involved guns, dope, or violence.

On the other hand, if RE prices fall far enough and fast enough, leaving enough homeowners high and dry and enough banks holding worthless paper, there may be a public outcry for scapegoats.

Young Casey may make an acceptable scapegoat, but only if we can keep him in the public attention long enough.

Anonymous said...

I didn't see a "Suprun" listed there...anyway, not saying that this is not one of Galya's relatives, but "Suprun" is not an uncommon Russian surname.

Vanessa would put the birthing hip body slam on her faster than Galina could say Prada.

I hate the way all of these twenty-thirty-something RE masters use these kinds of photos to sell themselves.

@Bemused Guy
Believe me when I say that I'm no fan of Casey and am eagerly waiting for him to go down. But at what point does Macy's take liability for giving credit to an idiot like Casey?

Casey is 100% at fault for scamming all of these companies, but these companies are so eager to give credit to anyone, they make it way too easy. Especially with ID theft at the levels that they are.

Rob Dawg - before I get too off topic, perhaps a new entry for 'Corporate Liability' in regards to not loaning money responsibly. It sickens me to think my tax money is going to have to cover this.

Ogg the Caveman said...

Casey's still managed to break 100 comments on all but one post, even without his army of haters. I'm surprised.

Ogg;
Not everyone is aware of the boycott.

What the little pecker is doing is padding his post count. The count goes up and down, and is inserting comments ( backdating the timestamp) on them. If you look, the last two comments are the same but the count went up like 10 or so.

He did it on the last 2 threads.

How pathetic. He can't even be honest with himself about a lousy blog.

Anonymous said...

I just thought you should all know - Galina spent 128 at Macy's yesterday.

Ogg, even though he is still going over 100 posts, 95% of them are not informative or funny. A month ago, his personality profile would have generated 500+ posts.

On the spread sheet BlogsALot likked to, the Macy's card ($500 limit) is noted as "store acct, not credit"

Is Mr Serin trying to fool us, his creditors, or himself.

You guys are beginning to scare me. I am here by dubbing you the Blogarazzi.

And I wouldn't want you after me.

Part time, as a hobby, you guys can find out lots of stuff about CS. Imagine what the DA or police can locate

I thought the Macy's store account was what he used to buy Galina's Christmas present, and that it already had ~$100 on it?

I checked the "Online Services" page of Sierra College. There is a "webmail" listed under faculty links, but not under student links. Guess the students don't get e-mail addresses there.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone see a post where he said he paid the wife's cards? I saw where he mentioned he paid one of them. I wonder if he's just updating the spreadsheet with crap.

And I'm sure it's been said but she must be dumber than him to allow him on her accounts as an authorized user. I wonder if she has any friends I could meet up with? :)

$128 can't be for furniture. I doubt that would buy an end table at Macy's, let alone a couch.

as per the comment padding, i warning you guys on that, hes copying posts to exurbannation and placing them on IAFF to look like hes getting comments...

@ Backstage:

For cyberstalking, we've got nothing on the fark.com crowd. If they'd taken an interest in Casey, they would've dug up all this dirt and run him off the internet in less than a day. I've seen it happen.

Really though, the only reason the Boy Blunder has been able to keep his side of the story out so far is that until recently he controlled the main venue for discussion.

Anonymous said...

@ Ogg
I agree. Now that we don't have to listen to the Casey-Controlled Media (CCM) the hatin has gotten a lot more interesting. He just got some SlashDot coverage too, so that may usher in a new crop of haters.

@ anon 9:24
Keep in mind many people post their comments at IAFF and here because they figure Casey will mod them out.

Anonymous said...

I'm a big fan of Fark. Wonder if there isn't someway we can get him on the main page of Fark lite. I bet his website has already been submitted a million times.

"$128 can't be for furniture. I doubt that would buy an end table at Macy's, let alone a couch."

indeed, $128 would get some makeup or one item of clothing (not even a purse)

I know this because I am admitted ly a high maint woman but I earn the funds and don't do it on credit

Anonymous said...

Maybe the $128 is for a matching blue ball for the wifey.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:24

Are you kidding me? That would explain the constant variation in post-totals.

I've only allowed myself to read his posts through here and Caseyland, because otherwise, I'll be tempted to post a comment on IAFF, and I have quit that habit.

Anonymous said...

Is he doing this post-padding to sqeeze out any last $$ he's getting from DuhWayne? I mean, what's the point? It's gone too far for him to even be believable.

Ogg the Caveman said...

@ Jefe:

He's already been on Fark back in September, but at that point his youthful stupidity act was still holding up and the reaction was pretty tame.

(A warning to those unfamiliar with the site: Fark comment threads are not reliably work-safe. If in doubt, browse from home.)

Anonymous said...

"Keep in mind many people post their comments at IAFF and here because they figure Casey will mod them out."

Casey has moded many of mine posts out. I no longer post on IAFF either. I guess it's time I got a blogger account.

Casey will delete any posts with:

Informartion about his wife.
Her involvement.
Anything about his family.
Anything about his rich dad, and his son (I located them too).
History about him, his prior blogs.
Any mention of another blog (Casey has gone back and removed messages mentioning other alternative blogs like this).

He appears to be using his blog to "erase" any wrongdoing by his wife Galina (even though she was very much involved and appears to be exceptionally lazy).
Create a nonsense defence of thousands of statements contrary to his actions.

@anon 12 :46

Please share what dirt you have dug up, as many of us have already done so.

Yes, the boy blunder is trying to revise history. However, a law professor friend of mine once told me that you cannot undue history.

In one hand you have the facts along with Casey's earth glog and IAFF. In the other hand, you will have a self admitted liar's testimony and his actions going back and editing and deleting those posts. He can try and spin as much as he wants, but G's name, pictures, signatures, and Casey's own evidence have placed her in as much peril as he is in.

My hunch has been many of Serin/Supron tribe do not have clean hands. It would not surprise me if money was transferred to parents/inlaws/ cousins/ bank accounts and then cashed out.

Anyway, share with the rest of us. Heidi, Homey, and Trent have dug up some cool stuff on this putz.

Casey is a moron. He saw that his posts were down, so he posted his Myers Briggs personality test. He is such a troll, but amazingly enough, people are STILL posting there. He had ove 100 comments. Why do these imbeciles want Casey to sit on his flat ass and make money, and be made a fool of? He is obviously a troll. Also, being female (so, I can say this) I am DYING to see Casey's personal blog, can anyone hook me up. I am very hot, drive an Audi (clean) and ride a 1300lb horse named Liberty. I used to post under U_R_A_MORON, but Casey stopped posting any of my comments. C'mon people do not post on the freaks site! Why support him and his fat wife???
