1) Immigration problem. If the problem is related to lies on immigration applications, and somebody became aware of this, there's no statute of limitations. We've kicked people out of the country after decades because of lies. $500K wouldn't do anything in this country, but it could pay off officials/criminals in Uzbekistan who would be needed to prove the lie. However, this would tend to implicate his whole family, not just him. I tend to discount this.
2) Gay.

My new Asus laptop has Core 2 Duo and runs Vista, which means Vista can now choose which processor it wants to hang on.
I used to have a rule of thumb that XP would last about 2 years between wipes and reinstalls. I'm thinking Vista maybe goes 3 or 4 months (based on the 3 that I have).

The thing about Alexa is, they only measure traffic from people who have installed the toolbar. Anybody who understands market research knows that data derived from self-selected samples can not necessarily be treated as a representative sample of the full population.
A lot of people use Alexa data because they think it's the best external verification they can get, but when you compare Alexa traffic to non-Alexa sources like internal web log data, you can see that some things are out of whack. Here's some background info.

Casey is talking about going to the scamminars, and even knowing they are bullshit, he was really impressed at the marketing ploy...now he wants to try the same thing to make millions!!

Enablers...one problem with that idea. Is he coming back with cash in his suitcase? The US Gov't is not keen on that kind of thing. He will have to report it at Customs.

I don't trust the traffic data, but it is a place to start if you want to make a case for spending money with that site.

It would make no sense to return with money, it would be safer stashed in numbered Swiss accounts or other offshore locations.
Plus, casey isn't smart enough to dabble in that kind of thing. You have to REALLY know what you're doing, or you kiss your money bye bye. Even if it's legit, moving money around offshore ain't easy.
More likley he'll be paid (if he's up to no good over there) by a shell corporation, funneled right into his corporation, that way there's no 1099 on record, and no IRS/FTB cash grab.
And methinks the "problem" is related to nefarious doings at Rescom, and the 500K is hush money or for buying Rescom itself so he can burn the records.
Rescon is the only thing he would NOT talk about, period.
Hard to say what else, if he learned of it mid 2006, that's before IAFF and probably not mentioned in his other blog, and most likely deals with something pre-mortgage fraud.
Maybe he stole IP from his only known job, that was used at Rescom?

The only possible lawsuit is against those people who re-published the information elsewhere. Republishing things verbatim and in their entirety is copyright violation in all but a few odd situations.
Merely viewing the files is not a violation of anything.
So yes, Marty and Casey have a case against the anonymous people who have copied and republished their information. Since neither Rob, R-Boy, Duane or any of the other known players here seem to have done that, I don't see what case he would have against them. Merely FINDING the files and listening to them is not a crime.
Had there been so much as a simple password on the site and had they hacked it, things would be very different, but that was not the case.
Casey/Marty can't claim theft/hacking unless they can prove that affirmative steps were taken to protect the information. Not advertising is not an affirmative protective action.

If you use the search box at the top of the page, yes. Doing a google search constrained with site:exurbannation.blogspot.com searches the whole lot, comments and all -- the only problem then is finding the needles in the haystack...

I think the haterz are finding out that there are consequences for breaching the DMCA. It would have been better for them if they simply quoted only certain sections of Casey's and Marty's digital works.

One does not "breach" a law. One breaks or violates it.
That said you are correct in that there are consequences.
Now, if you could only identify the anonymous posters who have illegally published the copyrighted information, you might have a case. So if you can figure out who "Forking Bastich" is, you may have a case. My bet is he's using a proxy, and you'll never figure it out.
However, you can probably get unbase.com (the host) to remove it from their servers if you lodge a complaint. By then, I suspect, the damage will have been done.
I do not believe any of the "known" people associated with this blog are stupid enough to have republished the calls themselves. I know that several of us have refused to even touch them.
Fighting against anonymous proxy-using commenters is almost impossible.
Even the RIAA has only managed to go after a few thousand of the most eggregious violators.

Speaking only for myself, I find it compelling for a number of reasons. I first read about it in USA Today back in October when I was on vacation ( Canyonlands backcountry...yum) I found the blog and began to read it daily. I think that is part of the allure. The story has developed over a period of time. The posters are consistent and I began to get a sense of who the characters were out in cyber space. Remember Tim from Monterey Bay? Then there was the slow turning of sentiment towards Casey. I could see the temptations of getting involved with speculation in real estate. I could identify with him and offered some simple advice. He ignored it. He ignored everything. At some point it all turned into a reality and morality play. The characters became larger than life and for only a few minutes a day it was easy to follow.
Then the drama kept getting better and better. One house after another went to foreclosure. Casey played the part of clueless dufus to perfection. His guruspeak and other mannerisms were easy and fun to satirize.
I kept expecting him to give it up. Do the right thing and begin to live a more sober, centered and law abiding life. Nope. GSPG. Duane. Nigel. Galina. He kept making the worse possible choices. The story became fascinating. The information started to get farther apart but the haterz sites kept the story going. I tell my wife that I'm off to read my soap opera. That is how it functions for me. Some of it has even been put to music. I realized how much I missed it when it went down for a week. I'm actually going to be in Sac. tomorrow (from Maine) and thought of looking CS up. Too late for that apparently.

In general, most all laws of the United States apply *only* to the United States and its territories, with the exception of income tax and some other neo-East-German-style things that the US has pursued (doggedly) in recent years.
It's a general principle of international law, and most countries honour it. Even the US does... most of the time.

I lived in Oz for 2 years. I flew back and forth from the US twice a month. The 16 hour flight is less than wonderful.
The two main stops out of SFO are SYD and Brisbane. Brisbane is in Queensland and more of low area near the beach Gold Coast. Casey said he's in the mountains. That would be west of SYD.
OZ is an extremely expensive place compared to the US. Casey's friends will soon tire of his moochability. Galina will find another man (or a real man). Casey's looking for a way out. He should have gone back to Uzbeck.
