Casey Who?

A gentleman wise beyond his score and four years pointed out a truism last week in another forum most of you likely know nothing about. It concerned a pet peeve of mine. I used to live down the street from Frank Gehry's "inside out house" in Santa Monica. And living in SoCal I've been exposed to his efforts over the years. With my engineering background and frugal nature his stuff has always evoked strong negative reactions. It's crap and I'm not afraid to call it crap. Well anyway back to the story. Turns out I am not alone and one enterprising New Yorker has printed up T-Shirts that read simply; "FUCK FRANK GEHRY." This made the rounds because Frank himself wears one while working out. My reply to all this attention? "You really want to fuck Gehry? Ignore him." Thus the thread title.

For all wondering about Gaysey's ethnicity -- on The McFly Tapes™, he says that the name "Serin" is not overtly Russian, although a large part of his make-up is in fact Russian.

He says there's some Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Finnish (!!). He mentions a specific minority group he belongs to called "Mardzin" (he spelled it out, and pronounced it mard-ZEEN). A google search doesn't turn up much, so wondered if he misspelled it.

He says the Anglicized name "Casey" literally comes from the letters K.C. -- in Cyrillic, that is. The name "Serin" is written as "CEPNH" (roughly) in Cyrillic, so his original initials were in fact K.C.

Gehry is a hack compared to the "Buckminister Fuller" of architects ... Frank Llyod Wright.

Bob Dawg, as a frugal engineer myself, I never fully appreciated Wright until I saw Talisin West. I found the little touches -- like tapered breezeways to create a natural wind tunnel -- truly genius.

Being tall, I don't appreciate his philosophy for doorways of "compress and release". But other wise, Wright was amazing.

I tend to think that Casey exemplifies the maxim : a little knowledge is a terrible thing ...

The original gypsy comment is just plain ignorant. Casey may act like the proverbial gypsy but unlike U.S., U.K. and Irish Roma, east European Roma are quite dark and usually distinct from the local populace. The best example is to be found in ... Finland ... almost Dravidian looking, quite a contrast to the generally blonde Finns.

However, metropolitan Russians out of Moscow and St Petersburg would very much look down upon these people ex Tashkent as country bumpkins and I think it is in this light Casey et al. should be regarded.

I agree Casey is a mark. He found himself in the unguarded candy store and gorged himself. His relatives thought he was being resourceful until the obvious dawned upon them.

Given his patent amorality, maybe this is a truly brilliant move, his becoming a fugitive before he needed to. But money is the big question. Without a criminal organisation behind him, how is he going to access his stash?

Perhaps, Australia is a pre-planned stepping stone elsewhere.

It has been pointed out here that Oz is a little too bureaucratic for a guy like Casey to disappear.

South Africa used to be a good option for US fugitives but less so these days owing to tight cooperation between US and Pretoria. I think a low profile fraudster might get away with it in RSA but not Casey ... his profile is far too high. People are going to recognise him the world over. And contrary to what was stated elsewhere there is not a mass exodus occuring in South Africa, at least not yet. That honour belongs to New Zealand.

Did Casey ever develop a taste for dark skinned women in Sacto? If so, Sydney could just be a stop on the way to Bangkok, specifically Pattaya with its large concentration of ethnic Russians. There he could find plenty of Russian home cooking (mastered by nubile Thai women!) to replace the only thing Russians really miss.

But I repeat, Casey is a mark. And he would be a lamb to the slaughter in Pattaya, or for that matter in South Africa where (white) con men are a dime a dozen.

And it could be that Casey has already signed his death warrant by transferring his assets to an overseas network thinking that they will pay him his pension money once he gets there!

In my youth, I had a speeding ticket (or three) that I ignored because I just didn't have the $$$ to pay it, so I know how this works.

They do NOT issue bench warrants for non-payment of speeding tickets. Your license is revoked until payment is made in full, but bench warrant's aren't issued.

Has anyone spent any time of consequence really scouring the deeds, etc. to the properties Casey has purchased?

I HIGHLY suspect that Casey didn't just buy the properties listed on Caseypedia and IAFF. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find that Casey took out loans for those homes, with inflated appraisals and cash back (as we already know), but also picked up a little something else on the side that wasn't disclosed to the lenders.

ie, you make a deal to buy two houses next door to each other. Well, you apply for a loan for only one of the addresses, get an inflated appraisal, get the loan for property a, never pay on it, and then when the lender forecloses on property a, you've still got property b next door, never having paid a dime for it.

You've got trashed credit, but you still go something for nothing (and some cash back to boot).

Now, participating in this sort of garbage would put our young con-artist into a whole different league. Now you're not just running afoul of mortgage laws, you've gotten yourself into organized crime and likely are on the wrong side of RICO.

Now who's lost control of Casey's story? Casey is back in control if for no other reason than there's no news at all -- even from him. I give the boy credit for this clever volley. Any response immediately would have given more fuel to keep the dawg pound going. Now, the dawg pound is out of kibble. And believe me, I'm sad about that. I refuse to go to IAFF out of principle since the site is "monetized" now. The dawg's need to throw us new meat, we've chewed on these old bones long enough. And really these oil-soaked leather chew toys are getting rancid -- what a canard the Gypsy debate is. The Serin Disinformation Team (if there was one) should now know the dawg pound can be thrown off the scent rather easily -- throw them a immigrant/ethnic-scented panty-wad. They'll go braying off in all different directions (heterodyne, indeed).

Personally, I think Casey is a born bottom™ -- he's a mark. The MLM crowd and pyramid builders know he's only cut out to be the bottom block of any scheme. The cash-back deal proved him to be a fool. I think it was because the glass was straight panels that were put in to curved places, so some stress was put on the panes. Some cracked under the strain.

Architecture (as a from of design) is much like any other art form. There are visionaries who push the envelope of design and there are craftsmen who follow without making any real impact.

Geary, Wright, Maybeck, Olmstead, Morgan, Pei, Howard and others design buildings that are well beyond ordinary.

Time must judge these structures. Current tastes change and the ability of a building to withstand the changing vagaries of taste will tell if it lasts for a hundered years or is torn down in fifty.

I personally find his buildings fascinating. I would not want to build one. I would not want to live in one. I would not want one near me. But I look forward to seeing how they stand the test of time.

Sharky, don't you know that living in "The Valley" makes you highly superior to those living in places where there is: clean air, attractive public landscaping, parks that arent' riddled with drug dealers and illegal aliens, etc.????

Duh. ;)

See, endgame. You ask nicely and I try my best. He'll be back but you can bet it will be with a different shtick and no way will he idenifty himself. In fact I can almost double dog gaurantee he's busy rechecking to make really sure he is untraceable before he swaggers back in for another round of having his ass kicked.

Just stop now. Hippocrates/Abhorred/geometric home (geodesic dome)/Johnny Cochranisms of words. It was a joke, and yes, a troll, albeit an elitist one. Was hoping for a few chuckles rather than flames, but oh well. It's Friday, I'm feeling silly, I know I'm not as funny as I think I am, but Jesus, if you can't laugh at yourself, you risk someday fleeing to Australia penniless. For what it's worth, enjoy the weekend from a self-defecating a-hole and I too am awaiting the next C-Bomb. Apologies for offenses--none intended.

We had a bunch of trolls show up around 8 a.m. so their lunch would start 12/12:30.

I also was merely "mock incensed" when creating my own engineer vs archy-o-tect swaggering... so maybe your humor did not fall on as dead ears as you had feared...

Cheers!

There once was "The Foreclosure Code"
In which fraud, greed and sloth were showed
Its readership peaked
When its files were leaked
And the author left his abode.

Gehry designed the band shell at Millenium Park in Chicago.

Interesting, but not pleasing to the eye. Good thing they have cool lights to make it less ugly.
